The Peoria County Bar Association is in trouble. But so is every professional, civic, service, fraternal and not-for-profit organization. Membership in organizations, including ours, is declining. Reduction in membership means reduction in the ability of the Association to provide the events and benefits that the PCBA is known for. Dues notices will go out the end of June. If you have friends or colleagues that are not currently members of the Association please encourage them to join. If you are in a firm-please encourage your firm to have 100% membership in the Association. Since July I have encouraged everyone to become involved the PCBA-The Original Social Media-and we have had a response. Now I ask you to bring others into the fold and to have them become part of the PCBA Social Network.
I want to thank the Young Lawyer’s Committee for making the Law Day Luncheon a success. Once again we had a tremendous speaker, a huge response to the Law Day Essay contest, and wonderful attendance by our 50- year lawyers. It was a grand event and well received by those in attendance.
I also want to thank our member, David Mueller, for the very moving Memorial gathering on May 24. We honored three of our members who had passed on during the preceding year-Daniel O'Day, Lou Behrends, and the Hon. Steve Covey. I want to thank all who attended and made this a memorable event for the friends and family in attendance. Finally, I want to thank Heyl Royster for hosting the reception following the Memorial.
