Clinical Faculty Position

The C-K Law Group of Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, is now accepting applications for a full-time in-house clinical faculty member from accomplished attorneys who have an established practice in one of these areas:  Plaintiffs Employment Law, Intellectual Property, Business/Commercial Transactions, or Criminal Defense.  

The successful candidate already has a robust client base. As a clinical professor, primary duties include teaching enrolled law student interns experiential lawyering skills, supervising their assigned client case work, and mentoring them through the myriad of associated professional duties and issues. A Juris Doctor from an ABA approved law school is required as well as an active Illinois License, or ability to be admitted by motion to the Illinois Bar.

Peoria Public Defender's Office
The Peoria County Public Defender’s Office is seeking criminal defense attorneys to fill both contract and staff positions as assistant public defenders. The positions are open to all experience levels, from recent graduates awaiting bar results to felony attorneys with years of experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a 711 license or licensed to practice law in Illinois and should be able to demonstrate an interest in representation of the indigent.

The caseload will depend on the candidate’s experience and interest, and ranges from traffic to felony. Job responsibilities include meeting with clients, conducting plea negotiations, bench and jury trials, and assisting with detention hearings. A successful applicant must be skilled in trial advocacy, communication, legal research, and have both the ability and desire to zealously advocate for our clients. 

The Office provides opportunities for ongoing training, encourages a work-life balance, and offers an aggressive salary commensurate with experience.  Salary and compensation package for staff attorneys includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension program. Staff attorneys also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

Salary range for entry-level staff attorneys begins at $68,000, and for experienced attorneys begins at $83,000 and is dependent upon years licensed, qualifications, and experience.

Assistant Public Defender

The Tazewell County Public Defender’s Office is seeking a candidate to fill a position as an assistant public defender. This position is accountable for providing representation to indigent citizens accused of crimes facing the possibility of jail time.  Job responsibilities include: defending clients in cases as assigned by the court including traffic, misdemeanor, and juvenile cases; corresponding regularly with clients; negotiating with prosecution on behalf of the client; reviewing police and lab reports to advise clients; interviewing civilian and police witnesses; examining physical evidence that may have been secured by the police agency; challenging the constitutionality of stops and arrests;  and, representing clients at both bench and jury trials. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree and have an unrestricted license to practice law in the State of Illinois or anticipate being licensed in November 2023. Prior experience in the defense or prosecution of criminal law is preferred, but not mandatory. Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work with: clients as assigned; the general public; and all necessary stakeholders to achieve resolution of cases. Compensation $65,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience and includes full benefits package and enrollment in IMRF.

Established Pekin law firm practicing primarily in the areas of estate planning, probate, real estate, and business matters seeks a paralegal or legal secretary.  The ideal candidate should have excellent computer skills and be organized, detail-oriented and possess the ability to multi-task.

 

Primary responsibilities include assisting our three attorneys by:

             Answering and transferring calls;

             Typing documents, correspondence, pleadings, and court filings for attorney review;

             Electronically filing documents with the court;

             Other administrative duties as assigned.
